Name Tavin Suárez

Rank Lieutenant

Character Information

Gender Male
Species ½ Vulcan
Age 35

Physical Appearance

Height 6'1"
Hair Color Brown
Eye Color Hazel
Physical Description PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Suárez has dark wavey hair that can be a bit shaggy at times. The length and how he combs it gives him more of a Human appearance than Vulcan, but the methodical
habit of combing it a certain way and ensuring that it does not fall out of place brings to the forefront the habitual retentiveness of being Vulcan. He's a lean and tall man around 1.85 meters in height, not towering but taller than the average Human male. His angular face, strong jawline, and pointed ears of his Vulcan heritage are mellowed by his neatly groomed mustache, softening those Vulcan features. His eyes, however, carry a quiet intensity and fixed attentiveness that occasionally permit a flash of human warmth.

Mother Sakonna

Personality & Traits

General Overview PERSONALITY OVERVIEW

Tavin Suárez embodies a balance between Vulcan restraint and subtle human expressiveness. He has a great amount of intellectual curiosity but a natural magnetism that brings people in despite his somewhat reserved demeanor. Over the years, he has learned to embrace his humanity within and shed the sardonic stoicism and replace it with a playfully dry sense of humor which often flourishes when trust and comradery have been established. He’s a thoughtful, observant, and surprisingly personable individual when given the chance to form a connection. In his academy days and the earlier years of his Starfleet career, Suárez was extraordinarily earnest and idealistic. To an extent, he still has these traits, but the harsh reality that not everyone in the galaxy wants to work harmoniously shook him loose from that philosophy. Instead, he strives for peace and prosperity but is ready for whatever it takes to maintain order for the greater good. He genuinely believes in the Federation. Logic remains his anchor, and he uses the teachings of Surak to limit and temper his emotions yet refuses to outright deny them. They have value and purpose to him and though he has a strong respect for Surak’s philosophy and the Vulcan culture, he has found himself carving his own path based on his own beliefs and the necessities of his career and position within Starfleet. His emotional awareness and how he harnesses it has been useful on many occasions in the line of intelligence and diplomacy.
Strengths & Weaknesses STRENGTHS

• Exceptional at reading the subtext of political situations and adapting to subtle
shifts in negotiation.

• Can reconcile logic with empathy, bridging gaps between species that lean heavily
toward one or the other.

• Highly disciplined, but flexible enough to improvise when diplomacy or missions
demand it.

WEAKNESSES

• His understated humor and warmth can surprise those who expect strict Vulcan
formality, sometimes throwing off professional interactions.

• He sometimes struggles with his identity, the remnants of tension from a
multicultural upbringing. He maintains Vulcan logic, but his human side longs for
more personal connection than he is often comfortable showing.

• Delegating tasks can be difficult, preferring to carry the burden of responsibility
himself.
Hobbies & Interests QUIRKS AND HABITS

• Carries with him a small polished stone from Adoss farmland, using it as a tactile
grounding object when deep in thought.

• Drinks spiced tea with a hint of native Adoss herbs (he considers it “logically optimal
for clarity”).

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

• Enjoys listening to Spanish guitar as well as old Earth string quartets, though he
insists it is “purely for neurological stimulation.”

• Kal-toh strategy puzzles – embraces Vulcan logic while also appreciating the creative unpredictability of the game.

• Classical guitar playing – a nod to his Spanish heritage, offering him a meditative yet expressive outlet.

• Stellar cartography – studies star maps recreationally, both for relaxation and the joy of imagining new routes and possibilities.

Personal History HISTORY

Suárez did not have the typical Vulcan upbringing that many think of when they think Vulcan, but he was not raised on Earth either. He was born and raised on the Federation world of Adoss, a Vulcan agricultural colony known for its wide plains, irrigation canals, and cooperative rural life. Though it had a predominantly Vulcan population, it was home to many other species in the Federation who sought a quieter, calmer, and more rural life among the stars.

His mother, Sakonna was a graduate of the Vulcan Science Academy and worked for the Federation’s Agriculture Department which had taken her to Adoss where she served as an advisor to the colony’s Governor utilizing her expertise in agricultural logistics. His father, Carlos Suárez had been a Merchant Marine aboard a Federation cargo vessel that was in the trade route that ran through Adoss. His Carlos and Sakonna had maintained a relationship for several years before Carlos left to settle on Adoss to be with her after she became pregnant with their child. Early on, Tavin Suárez showed skill in mediation and problem-solving among both Vulcan and non-Vulcan children in school. Though he enjoyed the outdoors and had the ‘traditional’ Adoss upbringing of agriculture and farming, he much preferred being in nature tucked under a good sturdy tree with some Ralph Waldo Emerson or
William Blake although both were overtly emotional at times in his opinion.

Though his parents had pushed him towards the Vulcan Science Academy, his mother’s alma mater, Tavin Suárez had applied to Starfleet Academy. It was something that his mother was taken aback by and it strained their relationship for years to come, but his father respected his choice. He excelled in his primary and secondary education graduating the valedictorian of his school, but that was not as prestigious on a world like Adoss. Still, he was accepted into Starfleet Academy. Then he did something Vulcans did not do, and something Starfleet frowned upon. He lied.

He spent four years at Starfleet Academy on Earth doing one thing whilst fabricating a completely different academic illusion for his parents, primarily his mother. As far as she knew, her son was on track to becoming a Starfleet science officer with a concentration on environmental sciences. Tavin was so deep into the deception that sometimes he fooled himself into believing his lies. Forging fake academy reports from science courses he did not take and constructing holographic messages from fictitious instructors.

In reality? He was attending Starfleet Academy, but he was far from the environmental sciences that his parents thought he was studying. He was on the command track studying Intercultural Diplomacy, Federation Law, and preparing himself to take the infamous Kobayashi Maru holo-simulation test. The closest thing to ‘environmental science’ that Tavin took while at Starfleet Academy was a course on planetary survival training.

During his Starfleet career he took supplemental courses in advanced negotiation strategies. He finds himself to be reading more about psychology to use as an asset, but he has no formal training in the subject matter aside from introductory courses to meet core requirements. Tavin’s unique strength lies in his ability to operate in the
crossroads of intelligence gathering and diplomatic outreach, often serving as the point person for tense or politically unstable regions.
